Work

Gday, All of you who are my twitter friends, have at one time or another seen me tweet about my hatred for work, well this is why...
I am a printer by trade, i have been since 1989 i have worked at many companies, some big some small and 1 huge ive met a lot of great people, but also ive met my fair share of assholes.
Printing is not an easy job, its dirty, there is a lot of very heavy lifting, its hot, you have to run around and make sure the machine is running well, in fact Printing is very stressful but the upside is that the pay is very good, if you are lucky.

When i worked at the Huge company my hourly rate was $36 an hour, it was me, 2 offsiders (helpers), and the place was clean and happy.
Well when my ex wife left me something snapped inside my head and i quit, and i got in my car and moved to another state, time past by, there were absolutely no printing jobs up there and i missed my kids so i came back to sydney.

So i found this place, its not huge but its not that small either, for the first 5 years working there was a dream, but then a change of management started, and the place became hell.
here are some of the changes,
1-No morning tea.
2-The speed at which the machine runs HAS TO BE FASTER, (the faster the machine runs the more stress you get as there are more chances for fuk ups)
3-As the machine speeds have increased as well as the workload, instead of leaving the machine crew as it was, they took both my offsiders away, so now its just me, operating the machine.
4-They made the Storeperson redundant! so not only do i do EVERYTHING on the machine i also have to get my own materials and sometimes load trucks... (i refused to get my forklift license so i dont have to do all that)
5-Not allowed to open the big roller doors due to dust blowing into the factory contaminating the paper, so the temperature inside goes up and up, if its 35c (95f) outside   inside is 45c (113f)

Now because of all the rules most people have left, but the ones that have left were the good people, the good workers, unfortunately what remains is the assholes.
The afternoon shift printer, who thinks the sun shines out of his arse, who never sets up and runs a job, but leaves it for me on the dayshift, "in case there are problems and the bosses can help".
Also the production manager who is on a measly 100k a yr who cant make any decisions on his own, who doesnt seem to give a fk about the place and who always asks me how to fix stuff.
The laminators who when their machine is down are supposed to help me but refuse by saying "not my job" so they sit down and watch, also the office stuff who are so incompetent a blind monkey with no arms could do a better job, and oh the backstabbers run rampant, the psycho printer on day shift who hates the lazy afternoon printer and the technical officer who thinks he is the boss because he comes from New Zealand, the sales manager who is as useless as roof racks on a plane who hasnt gotten us a single new customer in 4 years.

There also has been some harrassment of a female employee, and i witness it every day, for example 4 office workers come down to the factory floor wearing no steel capped boots, NOTHING gets said, the secretary comes down as well with no steel cap shoes, she gets told off for not wearing them then gets a warning, FROM THE SAME PERSON WHO PREVIOUSLY HAD DONE THE SAME...
so i tell him that that isnt fair and he starts lecturing me on being the boss of the company....eventhough he is just a SALESMAN! so we yell and scream and almost come to blows, we go into the office, he gets told "not to do it again" and the girls STILL gets the warning.... i cant work like that.

And to top it off i ask for a payrise, and i cop the "we pay you above the award, be thankful you have a job and if you dont like it leave" so i have made my decision, this year will be my last there...
its come to the point where i dread getting up to work, i walk in there and i am grumpy, no one talks to one another, theres tension in the air, i see the secretary cry almost daily.... so i get angry and tweet.... only place i can vent...there are more things about the place but im getting sick of typing, so i shall leave it there.....

Now you know why im always saying i HATE MY JOB..... hope that cleared it up....

Thank you for reading.
